Each weekend, I like to share articles or posts that I consider noteworthy during my week of reading (blogs or otherwise around the web), whether they encourage, challenge, inspire, or just flat-out make me laugh. Sometimes these are “current” links (recently written), and sometimes they’re older articles that I just happened to stumble upon in the past week. I hope you enjoy!
I’m so excited about Angie Smith‘s new Bible story book for young girls releasing later this month, with gorgeous illustrations by the supremely talented Breezy Brookshire. This book is all kinds of lovely, and I can’t wait to get my hands on it! Here’s a sweet video where Angie and Breezy talk about the process of putting the book together and what they hope to accomplish with it.
The “Meet Me At Starbucks” video which I just discovered this week and kind of fell in love with. Now granted, of course this is an idealized presentation of Starbucks, and I know that not every Starbucks store has such unique and amazing things happening–but at the same time, this is what I love about Starbucks and most coffee shops in general: the sense of community that happens within their walls. Some of the time, I go to Starbucks because I need to block out other distractions and be super productive, and it helps me accomplish that. But the other half of the time, I’m going because I’m making an intentional connection with someone, setting aside time for honest & heartfelt conversation over a cup of coffee – seeking community! And I love that. I love the good things that happen when we “get together”. So even though it’s idealized, I have to admit. I love this.
Nobody’s Cuter Than You – the announcement of Melanie Shankle’s new book! I have read and adored both of Melanie’s previous books, Sparkly Green Earrings and The Antelope in the Living Room; she is one of my absolute favorites, and I’m already plotting a list of friends to whom I would love to give this new book as a Christmas gift. Just look at that darlin’ cover!
